Our World Heritage: During the Iron Age, people began to cultivate fields, keep livestock, and build longhouses for communal dwelling. They also built burial mounds, and Sweden’s northernmost burial ground is located in Arnäsvall, just outside the World Heritage Site. The first islands of the Kvarken Archipelago rose above sea around the beginning of our era. They are now located 20 metres above sea level.
Other World Heritages: The volcano Vesuvius in Italy had a massive eruption in year 79. Located nearby the volcano, the archaeological sites of Pompei, Herculaneum and Torre Annunziata are today a World Heritage Site.
